📋 What You Should Know
MBXRemote works with the standard MusicBee Remote plugin for basic playback control and library browsing.
For the full experience - including Initiator Actions, remote keyboard automation, and tab navigation hotkeys - you'll want the extended plugin v1.5.x. For maximum Sting, Bono, or Pavarotti, get the extended plugin with ARiA.
Runtime Requirement (Framework-Dependent only)
The Framework-Dependent package requires .NET 8.0 Desktop Runtime.
The Self-Contained package includes the runtime - no installation needed.
Installation
- Download either ZIP file above
- Extract to any folder (e.g.,
C:\Program Files\MBXRemote) - Run
MBXRemote.exe - If using Framework-Dependent and prompted, install .NET 8.0 Runtime

MusicBee Plugin Requirement
MBXRemote requires the MusicBee Remote plugin to be installed and enabled in MusicBee.
- Open MusicBee
- Go to Edit > Preferences > Plugins
- Find and enable MusicBee Remote
- Configure the plugin port if needed (default: 3000)
- Restart MusicBee
Firewall Configuration
For MBXRemote to discover and connect to MusicBee, the following ports are required:
- UDP Port 5900 - Used for auto-discovery broadcasts
- TCP Port 3000 - Default port for MusicBee Remote connection (configurable)
Both computers must be on the same network subnet for discovery to work.
