MusicBee TrueShuffle
Deadpan Absurd Changelog
(Documenting progress no one asked for.)
Read the Official Press Release
For a more formal introduction to this entirely unnecessary software, please consult our press release. It contains everything you need to know and several things you don't.
Read Press Releasev1.4.0 — "Statistically Speaking, This Shouldn't Exist"
- Added a new entropy routine that ensures even your least-liked tracks get played. You're welcome, obscure demo recordings.
- Fixed a bug where the plugin briefly cared about user preferences. This has been corrected.
- Improved fairness distribution so aggressively that it now feels personal.
v1.3.2 — "The Update That Changes Nothing"
- Adjusted the random seed generator. Again. You won't notice. We barely did.
- Removed a line of code that wasn't doing anything. Much like the developer during this release cycle.
- Added a warning message that doesn't warn about anything. It just felt right.
v1.3.0 — "Chaos, But Make It Predictably Unpredictable"
- Rewrote the shuffle engine to be even more random, which is a sentence that should not exist.
- Fixed an issue where the plugin accidentally produced a sequence that looked intentional. We apologize for the distress this caused.
- Introduced "Entropy Mode," which is identical to normal mode but sounds more scientific.
v1.2.5 — "We're Still Doing This, Apparently"
- Improved compatibility with MusicBee's UI, which continues to pretend we don't exist.
- Reduced CPU usage by 0.0003%. This will not affect your life in any measurable way.
- Updated documentation to clarify that no, this plugin still does not improve sound quality.
v1.2.0 — "The Fairness Patch"
- Ensured every track has an equal chance of playing, even the ones you forgot you downloaded in 2011.
- Fixed a bug where the plugin briefly attempted to be helpful.
- Added a tooltip that explains randomness in a tone that suggests we've given up.
v1.1.0 — "The Existential Update"
- Rewrote the selection algorithm after realizing the previous one was technically fine but emotionally disappointing.
- Added a failsafe to prevent the same song from playing twice in a row unless the universe wills it.
- Developer stared into the void for 45 minutes. No code changes resulted, but it felt important.
v1.0.0 — "The Beginning of the End"
- Initial release of MusicBee TrueShuffle, the plugin no one requested but everyone now has to emotionally process.
- Implemented true randomness, because someone had to.
- Added a settings page with exactly zero settings.
